The translation of the book "World History in Dates" offered to the Soviet reader covers the recent history of human society. This choice, in addition to the reasons of publishing character, is explained by the fact that this period is saturated with events of decisive importance for the destinies of all mankind. In addition, the increased interest of readers to the problems of our era, which was initiated by the Great October Socialist Revolution, was taken into account. Since the book is addressed to the Soviet reader, the terminology generally accepted in Soviet social, including historical, science has been introduced. In accordance with the conclusions of Soviet historical science, the dates of some events and their assessment have been clarified. Some abbreviations have been made. The publishing house hopes that this book will be useful to a wide range of readers.
