This textbook is the third, revised and expanded edition of the second part of the English Textbook by N. A. Bonk, N. A. Lukyanova and L. G. Pamukhina. The textbook is designed for 360-380 hours of classroom and about the same number of hours of independent work and can be used in foreign language courses, in circles, second language groups, educational institutions where the target of learning is active command of oral speech in English, as well as for self-education. The textbook consists of 20 lessons, an after-school grammar guide, an after-school dictionary and reference grammar tables. The subject matter of the textbook texts is domestic and socio-political. The volume of new lexical material is approximately 750-800 units, compared with part 1, the number of stable phrases and phraseological units increases significantly. The words and phrases that the authors consider mandatory are listed in the lists of active vocabulary given after each text, and are elaborated in detail in the lesson dictionaries. The textbook ends the study of the system of tenses of the indicative mood, examines such grammatical topics as non-personal verb forms, modal verbs, subjunctive mood and some others. Thus, the grammatical material of both parts of the textbook covers all the basic phenomena of English grammar necessary for active command of speech in English, and creates a basis for further expansion of the lexical stock and improvement of conversational skills.
