The new edition of scholarly work, The tragedy of Afghanistan, is made up of two parts. Part I, Origins of the tragedy, analyses the role, which the theory of non-capitalist development (created by Soviet theorists) played in the fate of revolutionary democracies and developing countries, in particular in the People’s Democratic Party of Afghanistan (PDPA), the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan (DRA) and in the fate of the USSR. Part II, The tragedy continued, gives a short analysis of the situation that developed in Afghanistan after the fall of the NDPA, and also after the Americans withdrew from the country 30th August 2021 and the Taliban (an organisation banned in Russia) came to power. Recommended to social scientists, practitioners and specialists in international affairs, students and postgraduates studying Asian countries, in particular Afghanistan.
