The book presents dispatches from the Russian consuls in Australia extracted from the Archives of the Foreign Policy of the Russian Empire. Most of the documents presented in the book have never been published before, and for the first time they are introduced for the scientific use. Materials in the collection shed light on longstanding and friendly relations that have been existing between Russia and Australia since the early stages of the development of relations between the countries. They testify to the multifaceted work of consuls on protection of interests of the Russian state and Russian nationals in Australia, cover the activities of consular representatives in providing information to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs about internal and external political development of the country.
