Theory of International Relations in the 21st Century: A Textbook
This textbook,
prepared by T. Bordachev, in collaboration with Zinovieva and Likhacheva, is a
complex publication of various directions in theory of international relations
from ancient beginnings to the modern theories and concepts.
The book is
focused on the use in educational process in order to create students’
knowledge and understanding of the theory of international relations, as well
as developing skills of application of the theoretical knowledge in the
following professional activities for the analysis of specific international
situations, processes and events.
Scientific novelty
of this textbook is the creation of the first Russian educational material on
the theory of international relations, written in terms of classical realist
paradigm. Realistic direction, at the origins of which are renowned
philosophers, historians, political scientists, such as Thucydides, Hobbes,
Machiavelli, allows to give justification for the role of force in
international relations and a place in the international arena, the degree of
interaction of state and non-state auctors.
The textbook is
written in a popular style, it is easy to read. The manual contains case
studies that demonstrate solutions of some specific international political
issues within a particular theoretical approach. Definitions, important dates
and historical examples, illustrating certain theoretical positions, are
rendered in tables. Each chapter ends with a textbook control questions.
