About the author

The author of this booklet is Antonio Núñez Jiménez, one of the leaders of the Cuban Revolution of 1959. After the victory of the revolution, he was the director of the National Institute for Agrarian Reform. In June 1960, A. Nunez Jimenez visited the Soviet Union at the head of the governmental economic mission of the Republic of Cuba and was received by the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the USSR N.S. Khrushchev. The book "Geography of Cuba" by Antonio Núñez Jiménez, published in Moscow in 1960, is known in our country. In commemoration of merits in the development of geographical science, the Council of Moscow State University elected A. Nunez Jimenez honorary doctor of geographical sciences. The present edition offers to the Soviet reader a brochure by Antonio Núñez Jiménez, in which he gives a brief historical sketch of agrarian reform in Cuba and reveals the essence of agrarian reforms carried out by the revolutionary government of Fidel Castro.
