This French-Russian dictionary is intended for students of French who wish to familiarize themselves with the terminology of socio-political texts.
The compilers used mainly newspaper texts, documents, diplomatic correspondence and a number of lexicographic aids. Words and terms are arranged in alphabetical order; in addition to the various meanings of a French word, the dictionary gives examples illustrating characteristic cases of its use.
When selecting terms, the compilers were guided by the frequency of their use.
The dictionary also gives phraseological combinations of special character, the meanings of which are not common in the common literary language. As appendices to the dictionary are given: 1) geographical names of countries and cities, 2) Latin words and expressions most frequently encountered in political and diplomatic literature, and 3) a brief list of the most common abbreviations found in political and diplomatic texts.
