In recent years, the history of relations between the USSR and Japan has become the object of a fierce ideological struggle between the forces of progress and reaction in Japan. The present work is an attempt to summarize the practical experience of the USSR's foreign policy towards Japan for 20 years - from the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Soviet Union and Japan until the defeat of Japanese militarism in World War II; the experience of the struggle for the implementation of Lenin's principles of peaceful coexistence in relation to this country, for the establishment and development of political, economic and cultural ties with Japan, for peace and security in the Far East. One of the tasks of the work is also to analyze the balance and struggle of political forces in Japan on issues of foreign policy, to show the goals and methods of Japanese diplomacy, as well as to expose the bourgeois falsifiers of history.
