“Secrets” of the White House

The authors of the book are well-known and experienced journalists from major bourgeois American newspapers, well acquainted with the reality of the notorious “freedom of speech” in the United States. Their book is a kind of report on the lies, falsehoods and perversions of facts that literally permeate the pages of the corrupt American press, especially when matters concern the foreign policy activities of Washington. However, the authors reduce all the evil to the personalities of American presidents and other top officials, trying to benefit the press as allegedly misled by the deliberate lies of the administration. Nevertheless, the value of the book is not diminished, because it contains eyewitnesses' confessions and shows in action one of the mechanisms for “brainwashing”, one of the hidden corners of the ramified arsenal of propaganda techniques and methods in defense of the aggressive policy of U.S. imperialism. Such examples and facts convincingly testify to the falling prestige of the U.S. government among ordinary Americans, to the existence of a deep “crisis of confidence” among the broad journalistic circles of America in the foreign and domestic policy of its government.
