This book is the first experience of a systematized description of the phraseology of modern English. The author had to solve a number of questions anew, based on his concept of phraseology. Such issues include, for example, variant and structural synonymy, dependence of components of phraseological units, identification of types of phraseological meaning, structural types and structural-semantic classes of phraseological units, the theory of phraseological context, description of cases of divergence of phraseological units and their biblical prototypes, description of adverbial phraseological units, sayings, proverbs and many others.
The book considers only the most important issues: the origin of PEs, their realization in context, their structural-semantic, grammatical and phonetic features.
