The book analyzes the struggle of the Soviet Union for the establishment of a just democratic peace on earth, the beginning of which was laid by the Great October. The main attention is paid to the struggle of the USSR for the fundamental restructuring of international relations, associated with the implementation of the Peace Program, its development and organic continuation in the decisions of the XXV Congress of the CPSU. Nikolai Ivanovich Lebedev (born November 15, 1925, Moscow, USSR) - Soviet and Russian historian, specialist in international relations and world politics. He was born on November 15, 1925 in the village of Rakhmanovka, Klintsovsky district, Saratov region. In 1942, after graduating from high school, he became an apprentice turner at the mechanical shop of the Kashirskaya TPP. In 1943 he voluntarily joined a partisan detachment sent to the Brest region to operate behind enemy lines. In 1950 graduated from MGIMO with honors. After defending his PhD thesis in 1953, he worked as a senior lecturer at the Department of History of International Relations and Foreign Policy of the USSR, associate professor and professor at the IMO Department. In 1966 he was awarded the degree of Doctor of Historical Sciences. In 1969-1974 he headed the Dean's Office of the Faculty of International Relations at MGIMO. From 1974 to 1985 he was Rector of MGIMO. He combined educational and pedagogical work with research activities. Author of monographs on international relations and Romanian history. After his dismissal from the post of MGIMO Rector in 1985, he continued to work as a senior researcher at the IMEMO of the USSR Academy of Sciences.
