The monograph is devoted to one of the most urgent problems of our time - the problem of environmental protection. For the first time in Soviet scientific literature, the question of the impact of the ecological crisis on the social and economic situation of workers, and first of all of the working class in the countries of capital, is examined in detail. The modern ecological crisis experienced by the industrial West is characterised. Particular attention is paid to the international aspects of the problem, and the environmental programmes of communist and workers' parties and democratic organisations in the main capitalist countries are specifically examined.
