The book opens with an introductory article by the Chairman of the Soviet Committee for the Defence of Peace. Hero of Socialist Labour, deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, political columnist of Pravda newspaper Y.A.Zhukov. The chronicle of the struggle for peace of Soviet peace supporters from 1949 to September 1984 contains the most important dates and facts characterising the struggle of the Soviet public for peace, disarmament and security of the peoples, its active support of the peace-loving foreign policy of the CPSU and the Soviet state. It was prepared by a group of researchers - historians and public figures: A.A.Akhtamzyan, G.M.Lokshin, V.M.Simutin, G.Ya.Tarle, O.I.Ternov, actively involved in the movement of peace-loving forces and engaged in research on this subject.
