   The thunder from the worst war in the history of humankind had died down to a faint rumble. Yet on the western outskirts of the victorious country a longstanding and bloody opposition continued; a genuine, undeclared war raged, claiming hundreds of thousands of lives.

The book recounts the struggle between the Soviet secret service and the Bandera-OUN underground in Western Ukraine, shows the work of state security on suppressing the  subversive activities of foreign nationalist centres, the interception of OUN emissary  infiltration channels into Ukraine, and strategic radio-games which were carried out with secret services from the West.

The author – himself a participant and witness to the events described – endeavors to recreate as objective a picture as possible of this tragic period in Ukraine's history.

It seemed that fascist nationalism in Ukraine had been done away with once and for all. But it only seemed to be that way...
