About the author

The Romanian People's Republic, following the socialist path, has achieved great success in the development of its economy and culture. Before the establishment of the people's democratic system, Romania was a backward country with a feudal economy dominated by foreign capital. Now Romania is a country with a rapidly developing national economy, on the basis of which the life of the working masses is continuously improving. The present book is a brief sketch of the history of people's democratic Romania from its inception to the present day.

The authors sought to show the general regularities and peculiarities of socialist construction in Romania, to show the leading role of the Romanian Workers' Party in the struggle of the masses for a better life. The book is written on the basis of the study of a wide range of materials, including archival documents, and personal familiarization of the authors with the country, where they were repeatedly in the period 1950-1963.
