The use of the achievements of the scientific and technological revolution in the conditions of capitalist production has led to an ecological crisis - pollution of the atmosphere and hydrosphere, uncontrolled change of nature, rapidly increasing danger to the life of the present and future generation of people. For the first time in Soviet scientific literature, a theoretical analysis of the relationship between society and nature is given. On a large factual material with the use of statistical data, materials of the UN and other international organizations, the author reveals the essence of the ecological crisis, analyzes the complex of scientific and technical, socio-economic and international problems in connection with this crisis. The author criticizes modern bourgeois theories of social ecology and shows that a genuine solution to environmental problems is possible only by combining the achievements of the scientific and technological revolution with the advantages of the socialist economic system.
