This book focuses on describing one of the most stable and effective banking systems in the world thanks to which Germany’s economy functions to a great degree successfully, and society’s requests for a whole range of banking services are being met. As part of the specificities of this monograph, the following principles have been highlighted: an obligatory account of historical traditions, maintaining the continuity and priority of national interests. Significant attention is given to analyzing factors and conditions according to which banks function; banks of different legal nature, client bases, federal and regional representation, diverse strategic aims and objectives, which on the one hand provides the banking system with a high level of stability at different stages of economic development, and on the other hand, creates a favourable competitive environment, thereby creating prospects for future development. In the context of transforming the national banking system and the need to increase the effectiveness of how it functions, many aspects of the development of the German banking system can be taken into account in Russian practice.
