P.V. Kondratyev is a former military pilot and participant of the Great Patriotic War. For a short time he had a chance in 1941-1942 to be the Soviet consul in Los Angeles (USA). In recent years P.V. Kondratyev takes part in the activities of the Peace Committee. Flying cases, consular everyday life, trips connected with work in the Peace Committee and form the basis of these “Notes”, which are essentially small sketches of meetings with interesting people and sights seen in different countries.
In the “Notes” Kondratyev reader will not find a broad coverage of consular practice, much is said in passing, without pretending to exhaustive assessments. However, the immediacy of these memoirs, their cognitive value, the variety and vividness of the sketches made by the author are of some interest to the reader.
