Antony Eden, who served at different times as Foreign Secretary and Prime Minister of England, is known in the Soviet Union as a participant in conferences of the anti-Hitler coalition countries. Eden's activity is connected with such important phenomena of international life as the events of the eve of the Second World War, the war years and the first post-war decade. The author shows not only the role and place of Eden in English political life, but also reproduces interesting pages of the history of English diplomacy, where along with Eden act Stanley Baldwin, Neville Chamberlain, Winston Churchill and many others. The subject of special attention of the author is Eden's attitude to the Soviet Union.
