Rocket Scientist's Notes

    This book contains narratives about the specific stages of experimental testing, flight testing of ballistic missile systems for diesel and atomic submarines including the legendary K-19 submarine and the very first underwater rocket launches in which the author participated personally as an experimental engineer of the military maritime training site. Next there was a long stint of working in the unique, as is generally accepted even among American analysts, 4th Central Scientific-Research Institute of the Russian Federation Ministry of Defense to analyze the conditions and developmental prospects of strategic atomic weapons in the USSR and Russia. Subsequently he worked in the Institute of World Economy and International Relations (IMEMO) RAN.

    The pages of the book are like brushstrokes of a painting. They contain stories of meetings with many famous people — politicians, military leaders, scientists and public figures whom the author happened to work, talk and have fierce debates with on testing sites, during military conferences, in scientific institutions and cabinets of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, the Gosduma, Kremlin and also the Pentagon and military centres of the USA.

    This book will be of interest both to specialists and to those who are intrigued by the history of our country and international relations on the cusp of the XX-XXI centuries.
