The training process for interpreters and translators can be intensive, fast and of very high quality. The Saint Petersburg School of Conference Interpreting and Translation is a live example of this. It was founded by Irina Alekseeva and Anzhelika Antonova with a team of eminent Petersburg translators and also translators from the UN, European Commission and colleagues from the leading universities in the world. The book does not only discuss this successful example but looks wider towards effective modern education, which includes the following key notions: matrix, cluster, scenario, text typology, interactivity and transparency. An educational structure with such qualities is able to develop organically, filling the empty lacunae from the matrix and continuously improving itself. For clarity, the book provides examples of exercises carried out in practice.
This book is aimed at interpreters and translators, teachers of the subject, for all those who are interested in this profession and those who use translation services. In essence, it is for everyone.
